Child pornography seems to be a growing problem on the Internet, and everyone can agree that it’s wrong. Despite this, putting someone in jail for passing on images may not be the best way to help them. If you have been associated and charged with child pornography in Maryland, knowing how to protect yourself against these allegations is key. In a recent case, Baltimore County police allegedly posed as the party with whom the 22-year-old man was meeting in order to catch him in the act.

According to the news from March 28, the man from Timonium was lured out by police. They arranged to meet him, and the man was allegedly under the impression that he was going to meet an individual and his nephew for sex. When he arrived, police arrested him at the scene.

The news reports that searches of the man’s laptop and digital media showed that he had over 14,000 images of child pornography. They man allegedly also had 203 video files that showed children of minor ages engaging in sexual acts. The 22-year-old man allegedly agreed to take a plea bargain.

According to his plea agreement, the police had disguised themselves as an individual who had been speaking with the 22-year-old before. That individual had allegedly given him the pornography. Now, the 22-year-old has been caught, and reports state that he pleaded guilty to the distribution of child pornography.

The man could have faced a number of punishments, but he was sentenced to five years in prison. He will also have to go through 25 years of supervised release, where the authorities will make sure he isn’t involved in child pornography distribution again. It’s also likely that he will have to register as a sex offender, although reports have not indicated that point in the news.
