Two Maryland men are facing charges for alleged sexual relationships with a 14-year-old girl. The two men were originally taken into custody on October 27, 2013, but had since been released. They were each indicted on numerous sexual abuse charges in early March.

According to authorities, the girl had spent time with both men during the summer of 2013. Police say that the girl drank alcohol and smoked marijuana while spending time with the 21-year-old man and sometimes with the other accused man, who is 18 years old. She reportedly told police that she had multiple sexual encounters with the older man. According to police, the girl had one sexual encounter with the younger man after she had passed out.

The girl had allegedly played a drinking game with the younger man, passed out, and then awoke to find him sexually assaulting her. The 18-year-old reportedly told police that both he and the other accused man knew the age of the girl. He also reportedly said that he had seen the girl and the older man in states of partial undress. The younger man is charged with offenses including second-degree assault, second-degree sex offense involving an incapacitated person, conspiracy to commit a second-degree sex offense and sodomy. The older man has been charged with conspiracy to commit a second-degree sex offense, second-degree sex offense involving an incapacitated person and five counts of third-degree sex offense.

If convicted of the charges, the accused men could face time in jail, probation and fines. They could also be listed on the national sex offender registry, which could restrict their career opportunities, where they can live and the interaction that they can have with children. If it is determined that a case will go to court, charges and penalties might be reduced if the accused immediately enrolls in a treatment program.
