A DUI arrest can often involve additional charges. A young Manchester, Maryland, man was issued 20 citations after being pulled over by a Maryland State Police trooper last month.

The 18-year-old was charged with driving under the influence of marijuana and alcohol. He is also accused of presenting false identification. The charges related to the ID the young man provided include theft and identity fraud.

According to authorities, the trooper pulled over the vehicle when he saw it moving erratically. Authorities say that the driver gave the trooper a driver’s license that belonged to his passenger when he was asked for identification.

The trooper also reported that he saw a plastic bag that contained marijuana on the floor of the car while he was talking to the driver. A search of the car allegedly uncovered additional bags containing marijuana, a liquor bottle, drug paraphernalia and burnt marijuana.

The driver reportedly admitted to the officer that he and his three passengers had smoked marijuana with his fellow passengers before he got behind the wheel. His field sobriety test allegedly revealed a .09 blood alcohol content. The driver was arrested and is facing a Nov. 3 court date.

If you are pulled over in your vehicle by a law enforcement officer, you could face legal consequences for any evidence of illegal activity that is found in your vehicle. If you are facing DUI and related charges from a traffic stop, it’s important to seek the guidance of an experienced Maryland defense attorney. Every charge for which you are convicted can have a significant impact on your future.
