According to Maryland State Police, a Carroll County man has been taken into custody on child pornography charges. The defendant was taken into custody on March 11 following an investigation that spanned several months into a file-sharing network that allegedly exchanged child pornography. The computer activity was traced to the defendant's residence in Westminster by an investigator with the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
A 31-year-old Maryland man was sentenced to 40 years in federal prison, plus lifetime supervised release, after he pleaded guilty to producing child pornography. The man was arrested in January 2013 after an investigation involving local and federal agencies.
Being accused of possession and distribution of child pornography is serious and can have life-changing consequences. The charges generally come after a search of a person’s home, where investigators seize a computer and allegedly find downloaded pornographic images.
