As a person who works with children or teens, you could be exposed to allegations from parents or the children themselves, even if there is no proof to back those allegations up. No matter what you’ve been accused of, you have a right to defend yourself. A child pornography charge like the one in this case could lead to serious consequences, so it’s best to immediately defend and protect your reputation.
An Aug. 22 report has shown that a licensed social worker from Essex, Maryland, has been charged with having and distributing child pornography. The reports indicated that the man was a counselor for teens, although there is no evidence that he has had any sexual contact with any of the teens he’s worked with in the past.
The man became the center of police attention when officials with the Crimes Against Children Unit discovered that someone at his home address had been sharing child pornography on a number of occasions. As investigators looked into the allegations, they obtained a search warrant for the man’s home. There, they say that they found a number of computers and devices with images of child pornography on them.
It’s believed that the 46-year-old man was knowingly and willfully distributing the pornography. He has been charged for possession and for the distribution of child pornography. He’s being held on $200,000 bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center, officials reported. The officials didn’t say if they were going to be interviewing the teens the man had worked with in the past or if they were clear he had never had any contact with them sexually.
